In order to study the effects of aqua-acupuncture with SamGuiRyong-Tang on the Renal Failure induced by HgCl₂in rats, animal experiments were carried out. After the rats were induced Renal Failure, aqua-acupuncture with SamGuiRyong-Tang were injected into the corresponding loci to Sin-Su(BL_(23)) and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) of human body and a Blank locus of the root of tail.
Experimental groups were devided into 4 groups ; control group, aqua-acupunture of SamGuiRyong-Tang groups treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23))and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) respectively, and Blank locus(B1) group.
Then the serum levels of albunin, alkaline phosphatase, and total protein, the serum concentrations of sidium, potassium, and blood urea nitrogen were measured respectively on the 1st and 3rd days.
The obtained results were as follows;
1. The concentrations of serum sodium were in all the groups, compared with those of the control group, while aqua-acupuncture of SamGui-Ryong-Tang groups treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23)) and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) showed most significant increases respectively on the 1st and 3rd days.
The concentrations of serum potassium were in all the groups, compared with those of the control group, while aqua-acupuncture of SamGui-Ryong-Tang group treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23)) and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) showed significant decreases on 3rd day.
2. The levels of serum total protein were increased in all the groups, compared with those of the control group, while SamGui-Ryong-Tang group treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23))showed significant increases on the 1st 3rd days and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) showed a significant increase on the 3rd day.
3. The levels of serum albumin were decreased in all the groups, compared with those of the control group, while aqua-acupuncture of Sam-Gui-Ryong-Tang group treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23)) showed a significant decreases on 1st day and Blank locus(B1) showed a significant decrease on the 3rd day.
4. The concentrations of serum blood urea nitrogen were decreased in all the groups, compared with those of the control group, while SamGuiRyong-Tang groups treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23))and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) showed significant decreases on the 1st and 3rd days.
5. The levels of serum alkaline phosphatase were decreased in all the groups, compared with those of the control group, while aqua-acupuncture of SamGuiRyong-Tang groups treated on Sin-Su(BL_(23)) and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) showed significant decreases on the 3rd day.
In conclusion, the results of this study seemed to indicate that aqua-acupuncture with SamGuiRyong-Tang respectively at the corresponding loci to Sin-Su(BL_(23))and Sam-Eum-Gyo(SP_6) were effective on the treatment for Renal Failure induced by HgCl₂, and as the efficacies of aqua-acupuncture theraphy, however, depend on not only the effects of drugs but also the effects of acupuncture loci, selection of acupuncture loci and drugs must be considered in clinical practice.
